An artist at heart, photography was his principle medium over his career. Meanwhile, Desprois always had a painting in progress. After retiring from sports photography, he decided that the time was right to commit to being a full time artist and to concentrate solely on painting. Always evolving, Desprois describes himself as going through "phases" artistically: Fauvist landscapes, art deco women and fashions, Mediterranean scenes, gondolas on Venice canals and ballerinas, and most recently his "disappearing women" paintings. In the past fifteen years, Desprois' paintings have been in galleries in northern California and in Scottsdale. Desprois admits that he has never had any lofty aspirations or inspirational goals for his art, simply wanting people to like it enough to buy it.
