Edie was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. For as long as she can remember she has loved drawing and painting. When she was 10 years old she went to the Philadelphia Art Museum on a class filed trip and she fell in love with all of the different mediums. It became one of her favorite places to visit while she lived there. My parents always encouraged and supported Edie in her love of art. Throughout the years she has tried a little bit of everything. Although she was never formally trained, Edie learned as much as she could through books, demos from other artists and good old fashioned trial and error.
Over the years, Edie has continued to draw and paint for the fun of it, but she did not get serious about it until after moving to Arizona in 2006. Her husband pushed her to carve out time to work on her craft. He encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone and try different things. Edie started with oil painting, then worked her way into pastels. She worked with pastels for about 8 years and she remembers they were actually her favorite medium to work with until she became curious about encaustic (painting with hot wax.) Edie has only just begun to work in this medium, but she finds it so fun to work with and so fascinating.
